Balance & Fall Prevention

Falls are the most common cause of non-fatal injury and hospital admissions. The American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and the CDC reported that “1/3 of adults 65 and older fall each year in the US.”

Common risk factors associated with older adults and falling include:

  • Muscle weakness

  • Balance deficits

  • Number of prescribed medications

  • Visual and cognitive deficits

  • Depression

  • Aging

  • Deconditioning

  • Fear of falling

  • History of falls

Fall prevention is key. Our highly trained physical therapists will perform a thorough evaluation and examination using standardized muscle strength testing, balance and gait assessments to determine your fall risk. With this evidence from the evaluation, an individualized treatment program will be developed to decrease your fall risk and improve your quality of life.
